Aviation Inspired Fashion

This weekend, I started going through my closet and began to do some "Spring Cleaning" now that April is upon us. As I busted out some of my lighter tops and blouses, I came across my brown leather jacket and it made me think of Amelia Earhart: a pilot, icon, and fashion designer in her own right. She was the center of aviation fashion, and I did some research on how the classic aviation pioneer is still seen as a source of inspiration for today's fashion world.
Now, you don't really need a pilot's license to add any of these items to your wardrobe.

With its rich history, the classic trench coat has surely taken a fashion forward style with its approach to an alternate arrangement of details and overall style. What attracts most to a trench coat is the enduring versatility and classic color palette. Whether you go with a single or doubled-breasted derivative, it’s a timeless classic. There are various lengths, from mid-calf to above the knee (this comes from the heavy serge greatcoats that British and French soldiers wore in WWI).

Find a jumpsuit that full length, nipped in at the waist, and is tapered at the ankles. You could also layer the jumpsuit over a shirt and tie - and roll up the sleeves for a more feminine touch. Leather jackets with a fur lining also can give a strong nod to the dominant aviatrix style - as well as a class leather bomber jacket. You can also add a pair of Ray Bans, a pair of Aviators (Tom Cruise Top Gun style).

Stick with form fitting pieces and neutral colors, and you'll be claiming the "runway" :)
