Stuck at the Airport

Hey everyone!
I thought for my first blog I should share my story about my first time flying. I had to go to a convention in L.A. this past June, and I had never flown before then. My flying experience was pretty decent for the first two planes I had to take to L.A. We had a few delays and actually had to land in a small middle of no where airport to get gas because they said we wouldn't make to L.A. otherwise! I thought waiting on a grounded plane for two hours. Little did I know that the flights home that were going to be even worse. After the convention, we were all sad to be leaving anyways because no one likes the trips home from a fun vacation/trip. We had to travel from L.A. to Denver, Colorado to Dayton, OH. We got on our first plane in L.A. and ended up being delayed and forced to wait on the plane because they had overbooked the flight. They were offering a package deal of meal vouchers, hotel stay, and tickets for the next flight to Denver. My friends and I debated taking the offer, but we had a connecting flight in Denver and would have to book a new flight to Dayton. Since none of us had the money to do that, we all decided to stay on the plane. We finally get to Denver, and we realize we only have a few minutes to get to our connecting flight which was conveniently located on the other side of the airport. Unfortunately, we were seated in the very last row of the plane. Desperate, my friends and I asked the flight attendants if they would allow people with connecting flights to be let of the plane first so we had a chance to make our flight. We had seen them do this on one of our previous flights to L.A. and assumed they would be willing to do the same for us. The flight attendants told us there was nothing they could do and proceeded to laugh at us behind the curtains. We decided to take one of my friends carry on luggage and have her run across the airport to try to catch the flight before they shut the doors. This was the only solution we could think of, so we sent my friend who ran track in high school. My other friend and I tried to run so we wouldn't be far behind her, but it was almost impossible to run with that amount of luggage and it doesn't help that I am one of the least athletic people on the planet. We get to the doors only to learn our friend had gotten there right as they shut them. One of my friends is a lawyer so she decides that we will go to costumer service and give them a piece of her mind. Both of my friends are going back and forth from bawling to be furious while I just sat there trying to figure out if there were other flights. We get up to the desk and my lawyer friend did some very good persuasion and actually expressed her anger about the situation very maturely. They told us they booked us three for a flight that was, again, all the was across the airport and was leaving in a few minutes. You can only imagine how thrilled I was to have to run again. We just make it and the person at the door tells us the customer service person lied to us and there weren't enough seats for us on the plane. The next flight wasn't until tomorrow afternoon. They gave us a $7 food voucher which didn't even cover a meal at McDonald's and they refused to pay for our hotel. We were forced to sleep on the airport floor and I swear that airport was colder than Antarctica. (the picture attached was me lying on the floor upset at the airport) We were unable to get any blankets or pillows since all the stores were closed. We ended up being stuck in that airport for 16 hours and after 3 more delays were able to board our flight to Dayton. As I am boarding the plane, the person at the gate stopped me because she did not believe I was old enough to ride the plane by myself. After convincing the lady that my license wasn't fake, I was finally able to go home. It's safe to say I won't be flying for a while.
